Brief History Of Vista Travel
Peter Scocca Sr. established Vista Tours Travel in 1971 with the thought of running group bus trips during the summer months to supplement his teaching salary. As the public sector became more and more interested in aviation, Vista Travel opened its first location in Hazlet, NJ in 1973 in the New York / Keansburg bus terminal located on route 36. Our steady growth from leisure travel, group trips and corporate travel became the foundation for expansion of the company. One of Vista Travels first corporate accounts was I. F. F. (International Flavors and Fragrance). Working two jobs and entertaining clients at his home in Clark NJ, Mr. Scocca decided to open his second office in Colonia NJ. With the steady influence of recommendations from satisfied clients, Vista Travel moved to larger quarters in 1974 and established the Colonia location as it headquarters.
In 1976, Vista Travel became one of the first travel agencies in the state to install United Airlines' reservation system, Apollo. Apollo provided Vista Travel with state of the art technology that helps the agents to better serve their customers. Since then, information technology has played a strong role in Vista’s continued growth. We employ the latest in technology, implementing many new software products to improve efficiencies and to ensure the lowest fares. This automation moved into the back office in our reporting, reconciliation and accounting areas. With the ever evolving technology our clients can request itineraries via phone, fax, e-mail or on-line.
Our corporate division established itself as a leader in the state, serving accounts such as Puerto Rico Marine Management, Regina Vacuum, Ingersoll Rand, Siemens Medical Systems, Intel, Hewlett Packard, ITT Industries and the State of New Jersey.
In 1980 Peter Scocca II joined the company and continued to expand the product offering. During his years with the company Peter has been responsible for the start up of The Center for Continuing Professional Education (C.C.P.E.) as well as Vista Travel Management Corporation, a women owned small business with the SBA certification Small Disadvantage Business. In March 2009, Peter and his wife Robin took over control of Vista Travel and operate the company as it is today. As the second generation of a family owned business, Peter and Robin's focus is to develop new travel opportunities within the circle of business already established by Vista Travel. Peter serves as President and CEO of Vista Travel and Robin is the Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Together along with their dedicated and experienced staff, they provide their clients with a level of knowledge unsurpassed in the industry today.
